This juxtaposition recalls a memory. It takes me back to an afternoon at RISD's Edna Lawrence Nature Lab, where I examined a dragonfly's wings through a microscope. Shortly after, by chance, I visited the Ladd Observatory in Providence, RI, and had my first glimpse of Saturn through a telescope. The transition from exploring the micro scale to the macro scale deepened my appreciation for our universe and cultivated an embodied sense of wonder. I created this visual contrast using a photograph from the microscope alongside a found image of Saturn, using the Van Dyke brown photographic process on Kitakata paper.
